  1. Boil the chicken in 2 cups water along with a pinch of salt, turmeric powder and pepper powder till tender. (Alternatively you can pressure cook for 2-3 whistles). Drain and shred them when cool.

  4. Add half of the butter and stir fry the barberries along with the sugar and little water. Keep aside.
  5. Heat remaining oil in a non-stick pan and layer the yogurt rice first and press it down. Now arrange the cooked chicken over it.
  6. Finally layer the remaining rice. Drizzle the remaining saffron water and butter. Cover with a foil and cook on a low flame for 20-25 minutes or till you get a nice crisp crust at the bottom.
  7. Switch off the flame and let it remain as it is for 5-10 minutes. Now place a plate over it and gently flip it over. Garnish with barberries, chopped pistachios and almonds. Serve as it is, with salad or spiced yoghurt for a nice comfort meal.
