The method of making it is same for all the variations. Only thing to remember is that Lamb requires less pressure cooking as compared to Beef. And as far as Chicken is concerned, there is no need to pressure cook at all.

  1. 1 kg Beef
  2. 900 gm Basmati Rice soaked
  3. 2 tbsp Salt
  4. 2-3 tbsp Ginger garlic paste
  5. 2 sliced Onions
  6. 3-4 chopped Tomatoes
  7. 400 gm Curd
  8. 2 tbsp Red Chilli powder
  9. 1 tsp Turmeric powder
  10. 1 tsp Cumin powder
  11. 2-3 slit Green Chillies
  12. 1 small bunch chopped Coriander Leaves
  13. 1 bunch chopped Mint Leaves
  14. 5-6 tbsp Oil
  15. 1 tsp Garam Masala
  16. Whole Spices-
  17. 2 small Cinnamon sticks
  18. 2-3 Cardamom pods
  19. 5-6 Cloves
  20. 3 cubed Potatoes

Instructions to make to make Hyderabadi Beef Tahari

  1. First of all wash and clean the Beef bone-in. Add salt to taste and ginger garlic paste to it. Pressure cook it for 12 whistles or depending upon the meat.
  2. Keep it aside for the pressure to settle down. Soak rice for 30 minutes. In a big cooking pot, heat oil and add all the whole masalas. Now add the onions and saute until translucent. Next add, the chopped tomatoes and the spices one by one.
  3. Cover and cook until the tomatoes are mushy and tender. Also add the beaten yoghurt. Peel potatoes and deep fry until half done. Do not over fry them. Drain and keep aside. After the tomatoes are done, add the pressure cooked beef.
  4. Also add the fried potato cubes. Finally add the soaked rice and adjust salt proportion. Add water according to the rice taken. Mix well and cook on high flame until it starts bubbling. Do not stir vigorously. Do it with light hands. Cover and simmer on a low heat for the next 20 to 25 minutes.
  5. In between, keep checking and add some hot water if required. Do not add more of it otherwise it becomes mushy. Serve this complete meal on it's own or alongside raita and salad. Enjoy!
